What is diarrhea?

Diarrhea is when you have loose or watery poop. Diarrhea can cause dehydration because the body loses large amounts of water.

What are possible causes?
  • Poor absorption of food (malabsorption)
  • Certain medications
  • Food intolerances
  • Infection
What are some symptoms?
  • Urgent need to use the bathroom
  • Loose, watery poop
  • Stomach pain
  • Bloating
  • Nausea
What to do?
  • Stay hydrated
  • Choose fiber foods
  • Choose low fat foods
  • Avoid sugary foods and drinks
  • Avoid caffeine
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Avoid dairy products
  • Avoid spicy foods
  • Choose smaller, more frequent meals
  • Slowly reintroduce food
